Kilguilkey International CANCELLED
DUE to a long period of adverse weather the organisers of the new international CIC1* and 2* at Kilguilkey in Co. Cork have decided to cancel the event this year.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “Horrendous weather for the past six weeks has caused areas of the new international tracks to become saturated in water. After talking to Eric Winters (Course Designer) along with Nicky Kelly (FEI Steward) and Christian Persson (TD) it was
agreed that we would be unable to run.
“The forecast for the next ten days isn’t looking any different so we have had no choice. We are terribly disappointed with this outcome as a lot of time and effort and, naturally, money has been put into this event, but we are under no illusion that this weather is affecting everyone.”
A spokesman for Horse Sport Ireland commented: “We are disappointed that Kilguilkey has been cancelled, as it was a new fixture on the International Event calendar for Ireland this year.”
Eventing Ireland ODE CANCELLED
Due to the severe overnight rain and the continued adverse weather forecast, regretfully we have had to to take the decision to cancel our event this weekend.
All entries will be refunded to the credit card from which they were made, less any card charges (as per Rule 22.2 in the Eventing Ireland Rule Book).
MINIMUS ALERT
UPDATE 1:15PM FRI 22/06/12:
The IPC Minimus scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. This is due to a suspected strangles case in a pony recently returned from the Mounted Games in Scotland to the West of Ireland. This pony is currently showing clinical signs. Despite short notice everything is in place and ready at the Millstreet Showgrounds to accommodate all the eager Minimus Competitors. We very much regret this turn of events. The IPC together with their Professional Veterinary advice have taken this decision with everyone’s interest at heart.
Due to the severe weather forecast, it has been decided to move the cross country element of the Minimus competition to The Greenglens Arena, Millstreet, Co. Cork, on Sat. 23rd June. This will be jumping over cross country fences on sand, over approx 1,800 m. course, which will include a slip rail and gate. Everything else will be held as planned previously; swim at Mallow Sun 24th, run at Danny Dulohery’s on Sun – registration at 1.30 pm.Competitors must stable where they have booked. Please allow an additional 45 mins travel time from Mallow to the Greenglens Arena, if travelling from north / north east.
Visit the Millstreet Horse Show website for directions etc.
